I am the author of fourteen published books. These include six volumes of my Lambda Award-winning Dan Sharp mystery series and four volumes of my comic Bradford Fairfax series. I am also an award-winning filmmaker, television producer and song-writer.
My most recent book is Shadow Puppet (January 2019.) Sixth in the Dan Sharp series, it is a fictional recreation of the real-life serial killings that took place in Toronto's gay community from 2010 through 2017.
In 2018, I was invited by the William Faulkner Society to read from Bon Ton Roulet, fourth in the Bradford Fairfax mystery series, along with Mayor Mitch Landrieu at the 300th anniversary of the founding of New Orleans.
Endgame, a stand-alone mystery, was called a "brilliant recreation" of Agatha Christie's best-selling And Then There Were None, giving the original what one critic called a "punk-rock reboot." It became my publisher's best-selling ebook in the US in 2016.
The Honey Locust, my literary novel about the Bosnian War and its impact on a Canadian family, was nominated for a ReLit Award for Literature in 2010.
My first novel A Cage of Bones, was published in the UK by GMP. Based on my experiences working as a fashion model in Europe, the book eventually ended up along with my first Bradford Fairfax mystery on AfterElton’s Top 100 Greatest Gay Books in 2008.
In 2002, my short film My Heart Belongs to Daddy premiered at the prestigious Director’s View Film Festival. It won awards for Best Canadian Director and Best Use of Music at the Hollywood North Festival and received Honourable Mention at two other festivals.
I have also worked as a producer and writer for Alliance-Atlantis as well as the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
As a songwriter, I have composed for and recorded songs with acclaimed Canadian soprano Lilac Caña and others. Recently (December 2018), I was in the studio recording songs for myself for the very first time.
